Chrissy Houlahan, a U.S. Congress member representing Pennsylvania's 6th district, recently took to social media to address several issues of public concern. Houlahan, who has served in Congress since 2019 and resides in Devon, Maryland, used her platform to inform constituents about new tax filing options and criticize recent federal actions.
On January 30, 2025, Houlahan announced the commencement of tax season by highlighting a new initiative for Pennsylvania residents. "Tax season has officially started – and there’s a better way to do your taxes this year! PA now offers direct file, a simple, and FREE tool to file your federal & state tax returns. Go to https://t.co/I5UNTwJc2e to see if you are eligible and save time and money this tax season."
The following day on January 31, 2025, she expressed concerns over what she described as unconstitutional actions affecting federal funds and communication from health agencies. " The illegal and unconstitutional freezing of federal funds for critically important government & community organizations nationwide. Silencing the CDC & ordering it to stop communications with the public — just after the first confirmed human death from avian flu in the US."
In another tweet on the same day, Houlahan criticized further actions taken by the administration that week. She mentioned the dismissal of inspectors general as detrimental to national safety and prosperity. "Law and Order: Episode 2 None of these actions make our country safer or citizens more prosperous, but here are just a few things the administration delivered this week: The illegal firing of 18 of our nation’s nonpartisan IGs who root out fraud, waste, and abuse."
