East Fallowfield Township issued the following announcement.
As part of the ‘South Caln Road/West Chester Road Intersection Improvement Project’, East Fallowfield Township will be closing South Caln Road (from West Chester Road to Goosetown Road) for roadway and drainage improvements on Monday, July 20, 2020. The construction has a scheduled completion date of October 12, 2020, weather permitting.
The Board of Supervisors awarded the low bid to MECO Constructors at their May Board of Supervisors Meeting. The contract price for the South Caln Road/West Chester Road Intersection Improvement Project is $284,754.80. Funding will come from the West Chester Road Improvement Fund.
“We have made improving our roadways a high priority,” said Township Manager Scott Swichar. “I applaud the approval by the Board of Supervisors for enabling projects that increase driver safety,” said Swichar.
The work will consist of reducing the steep grade of South Caln Road in order to improve sight distance at the intersection and increase safety. Other improvements will include paving of South Caln Road and the installation of a roadway drainage system along South Caln Road and at the South Caln and West Chester Road intersection to alleviate roadway flooding during heavy rain events.
Detour signs rerouting traffic will be posted near the construction site. The detour route will be along West Chester Road to Misty Patch Road and Goosetown Road to Misty Patch Road. Please follow the posted detour signs.
