The Bringing in the Bystander Program developed by the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institute for Justice “is grounded in the belief that all community members can play a role in preventing sexual assault and relationship violence and stalking.” The program approaches everyone as a bystander and focuses on teaching people to identify a continuum of sexual violence and build skills to safely intervene before, during, and after instances of sexual assault. Rather than focusing strictly on the roles of perpetrator and victim, the highly interactive, researched and evaluated Bringing in the Bystander In-Person Program curriculum uses a community of responsibility approach. It teaches bystanders how to safely intervene in instances where an incident may be occurring or where there may be risk.

If you are interested in learning how to make a difference in combatting sexual violence, Career and Counseling Services, the It’s On Us Committee and the Offices of Campus Life, Student Conduct, and Wellness, Athletics, and Recreation welcomes you to join us for this very important program via Zoom.
