The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced two upcoming public engagement events regarding the U.S. 30 Eastern Project Area, Section CER. The project aims to upgrade a 14.5-mile stretch of the U.S. 30 Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass corridor to address safety concerns, reduce congestion, support planned growth, and improve connectivity.

A live virtual public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM via Microsoft Teams Town Hall. During this session, PennDOT will present selected alternatives for the U.S. 30 mainline and interchanges at Reeceville Road, Route 340, and Route 322, as well as revised alternatives for Norwood Road and Route 113 interchanges. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a Question-and-Answer segment at the end of the meeting.

An in-person open house plans display will follow on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Pope John Paul II Regional Catholic Elementary School in Coatesville. At this event, members of the public can speak directly with project team members and submit paper comment forms.

Pre-registration is not required for either event. After the virtual meeting concludes, a recording will be available on the project website (www.us30-chesco.com). The website also allows visitors to review project information and submit electronic comments between January 15 and February 6, 2026.

For those unable to access online materials or attend in person, feedback can be provided by contacting PennDOT Project Manager Steven Fellin by email at sfellin@pa.gov or by phone at 610-205-6821.

According to PennDOT’s announcement: “The purpose of the live virtual public meeting, in-person open house plans display and project webpage is to provide updated project information and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.”

The U.S. 30 corridor upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to modernize transportation infrastructure in Chester County.
