Chrissy Houlahan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 6th district since 2019, has shared her views and announcements on social media regarding various issues impacting the community. Her recent posts address concerns about women’s welfare, social security, and AmeriCorps grants.
On June 6, 2025, Houlahan commented on the longstanding role of the Women’s Bureau within the Department of Labor. She noted its bipartisan support over two decades and criticized actions by the Trump Administration: “The Women’s Bureau within the Department of Labor has improved the welfare of working women since 1920 – operating with bipartisan support for 20 presidential administrations. Instead of continuing the generations-long support for women in the workforce, the Trump Administration”.
Later that day, she invited constituents to participate in a telephone town hall focused on discussing America’s future social security system alongside fellow representatives and former SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley: “Join me, @RepMGS, @RepDean, and former SSA Commissioner @MartinOMalley for a telephone town hall as we discuss the future of social security in America. Visit https://t.co/XbgRtoUJVC to submit questions in advance!”.
On June 7, 2025, Houlahan expressed relief following a federal judge’s decision to block significant cancellations of AmeriCorps grants. She stated this ruling confirmed her stance against what she termed unlawful actions by DOGE: “Good news: this week a federal judge blocked the cancellation of millions in AmeriCorps grants. This decision reaffirmed what we already knew: DOGE’s attacks on AmeriCorps aren’t only wrong; they’re illegal.”
Chrissy Houlahan was born at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland in 1967 and currently resides in Devon. She graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989.
