Chrissy Houlahan, currently serving as the U.S. Congress representative for Pennsylvania’s 6th district, shared her legislative activities and opinions through social media in late April 2025. Houlahan, who has held her position since replacing Ryan Costello in 2019, expressed her views on defense spending and introduced a bipartisan legislative proposal on paid family leave.
On April 29, 2025, Houlahan stated that she proposed an amendment during the House Armed Services Committee budget markup session. According to her statement, the amendment aims “to block the *additional* $150B Republicans are asking for from being spent until @SecDef is gone.” She conveyed her belief that investments in defense are critical but did not support the proposed allocation under the current circumstances.
Later on the same day, Houlahan announced her decision to vote against the House Armed Services Committee’s budget reconciliation. She cited concerns over the allocation of “$150 billion while Pete Hegseth is running the Pentagon,” claiming that it jeopardized national security.
On April 30, 2025, Houlahan revealed her involvement in introducing a bipartisan paid family leave legislation alongside co-chair @RepBice. The proposed legislation aims to enhance access to leave by providing scalable support to states and facilitating coordination across state lines to benefit families and employers.
Chrissy Houlahan, aged 55, was born at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. She currently resides in Devon and is an alumna of Stanford University, having graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
