Chrissy Houlahan, a U.S. Congress representative for Pennsylvania’s 6th district since 2019, shared several reflections and opinions via her social media presence recently. Having first assumed office after her predecessor Ryan Costello, Houlahan offers insights into trade, education, and national security.
On April 24, 2025, Houlahan highlighted the impact of trade relations with China, emphasizing the importance of soybeans as a key U.S. export. She stated, “Did you know that soybeans are the US’s top export to China? In 2022 we exported twice as much value in soybeans than we did in any other product. President Trump’s chaotic trade war with China is bad news for PA06 local soybean farmers like Bob Lange of Sugartown.”
In another post the same day, she expressed support and gratitude for educational resources, marking April as School Library Month. Houlahan, a former educator, asserted, “April is #SchoolLibraryMonth. As a former educator, I know from experience that school libraries are a vital resource for fostering the creative and constructive environments where future generations of Americans can dream and learn. I am thankful for the dedicated librarians.”
The next day, April 25, 2025, Houlahan addressed concerns over national security, specifically within the Department of Defense. She commented on the Pentagon’s vulnerabilities under current administration, stating, “An unsecured, commercial internet line into @SecDef office and Signal on a personal computer he uses there? Bypassing critical security protocols? The Pentagon is not secure and neither is our nation under Pete Hegseth. He must resign or be removed.”
Chrissy Houlahan, born in 1967 at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, resides in Devon. She graduated from Stanford University in 1989 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science.
