Chrissy Houlahan, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Pennsylvania’s 6th district since 2019, addressed several key issues in a series of posts on October 7, 2025. Houlahan reflected on the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, discussed legislation to restore banned books in military schools, and defended the role of women in the military.

In a post commemorating the two-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, Houlahan stated, “On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists brutally attacked Israel, killing and kidnapping innocent people. Two years later, the pain and grief from that day are still present, while hostages still remain in captivity. As we honor the victims and stand firmly against terrorism, we” (October 7, 2025).

Later that day, Houlahan addressed efforts to combat book censorship in military schools, writing, “This banned books week, I am proud to lead the Stop Censoring Military Families Act with @repraskin. This legislation would restore all books removed from Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) schools by the Trump Administration and protect school curricula from https://t.co/OpJlUSGadB” (October 7, 2025).

In another post, Houlahan responded to commentary on women’s service in the military, saying, “Women can and do bring the warrior ethos to their military service, and Pete Hegesth’s opinions on the matter do not change the facts. Modern warfare demands both brain and brawn, and I’ll continue to fight for every woman who puts on the uniform to protect and defend our nation.” (October 7, 2025).

Houlahan, who was born at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland in 1967 and currently resides in Devon, has been an advocate for education and military families throughout her tenure. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Stanford University in 1989 and succeeded Ryan Costello in Congress. Her recent posts reflect ongoing priorities in supporting victims of terrorism, opposing censorship in schools serving military families, and advocating for gender equality within the armed forces.
